2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified. ⁶ But I trust that you will know that we are not disqualified.

The Bible says to examine ourselves, and test ourselves, to see if we are actually “in the Faith.” So, how do we do that?

I am going to give you a description of what lukewarm people look like. As you read these examples, I encourage you to take an honest look at your own “Christian Faith.” Judge yourselves accordingly. Not judging others, judging yourself.

You may be Lukewarm if…

• You attend church somewhat regularly. You believe this is what “good Christians” do, so you go.
• You give money to charity and to the church… as long as it doesn’t disrupt your standard of living. If you have some extra and it is easy to give, you do so.
• You desire to fit in both at church and the world outside of the church. You care more about what people think of you and your actions. You are more concerned about others’ opinions than what God thinks of your own heart and life.
• You want to be saved from the penalty of your sin, but you willfully keep on sinning.
• You rarely share your faith with your neighbors, coworkers, friends, or strangers. You do not want to make people uncomfortable by talking about Jesus.
• You gauge your morality by comparing yourself to the secular world.  
• You say you love Jesus and claim that He is a part of your life, but you don’t obey Him.
• You only give Him a small portion of your time, attention, money, and thoughts. However, He isn’t allowed to have control of your life.
• You listen to preaching and teaching about the Bible. However, you make little or no effort to read and understand the Bible for yourself.
• You believe that Jesus is your Savior, but you won’t allow Him to be your Lord.
• You have been “saved” for many years. However, you have never read the Bible through even one time for yourself.

This is not an exhaustive list. However, how many of these “lukewarm conditions” describe your own life and relationship with God? There is no such thing as a “lukewarm Christian.” If you are lukewarm, Jesus said He will spew you out of His mouth. You will be rejected.

Revelation 3:14-19 “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: ¹⁵ “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. ¹⁶ So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. ¹⁷ Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— ¹⁸ I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. ¹⁹ As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

If you believe in a “once saved always saved doctrine,” you believe a lie. Believing that lie can lead you straight to Hell. I don’t want that to happen to you. I encourage you to read The Truth About the Unpardonable Sin. That may clear some things up.

1 Peter 2:1-3 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, ² as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, ³ if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
