Effective Prayer for Healing

Praying the Word for Healing involves using specific Bible verses and promises as the foundation for your prayers. Believe that God’s word is true, powerful, and effective for physical, emotional, and spiritual restoration.

Before you pray, it is important to prepare yourself. Don’t make the mistake of praying out of desperation when it can be avoided. Prayer is a supernatural exchange between you and the Creator of the universe. You will find your prayers to be much more fruitful when you first find out what God has said about the matter.

1 Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

God’s word is God’s will. It is crystal clear in God’s word that it IS HIS WILL TO HEAL EVERYONE. It is not God’s will for any to remain sick. This must be settled in your heart before you pray or the enemy will have a field day with your thoughts. But you can’t take my word for it, you must see it and hear it for yourself from His written word. Why? So that your spirit can be fed, your faith can be strengthened, your confidence bolstered. The light of God’s word will begin to penetrate the darkness of doubt, sickness, and disease before you ever pray a word.

Before you pray, let the life-giving power of God’s word change your entire disposition and perfect your perspectives on this matter. Ask God to help you see what He wants you to see and hear what He wants you to hear.

  1. Read and Meditate: Study healing scriptures to strengthen your faith. Put them all together in one place, especially those scriptures that stand out to you. Print them out or save them on your device so that you always have access to look at, read, pray over, and meditate upon.
  2. Declare and Confess: Speak the verses out loud as an act of faith, asserting God’s promises and authority. Faith comes by hearing, and there is no better way for you to hear God’s word than by speaking it yourself.
  3. Personalize the Scriptures: Substitute your name or the name of the person needing healing into the verses. Make it personal, take ownership of it.
  4. Pray in Agreement: Unite with others in prayer, as recommended in James 5:14-15, for collective faith.
  5. Combine Faith with Action: Believe that healing is already secured the moment you pray, trusting God’s word over present symptoms. Begin thanking Him for the healing and start calling yourself completely healed, regardless of whether you feel or look healed. Faith talks the answer, not the problem.

Romans 4:17 (as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;

Here are some links to scriptures that promise health and healing to get you started. There are many others in the Bible that help strengthen and build your faith.

Isaiah 53:4-5; 1 Peter 2:24; Galatians 3:13; Matthew 18:18; Psalms 91 and 103; Romans 10:17; Hebrews 4:16; 2 Corinthians 4:13; Exodus 15:26; James 4:7; and John 14:13.

Before you pray, if you need to, write the prayer out on paper. Read the prayer silently. Familiarize yourself with it, taste the words, and change or adjust anything if needed. Make sure that what you are about to pray agrees with your Spirit.

First, expect power to be released when you pray. Then, open your mouth and release your faith-filled prayers and declarations. Know that life and death are in the power of the tongue. You are releasing words of life and health into your world.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

All of this preparation lets God, the devil, yourself, and your entire circle of influence know that you are serious. This is a huge act of faith. It is a demonstration of reverence for God’s word. Please don’t take it lightly.

The following prayer is a generic prayer for healing based on the scriptures above.

Pray in faith, expecting to receive your healing when you pray.

Father, I come boldly before Your throne to obtain mercy and find grace to help in my time of need. I have confidence in Your Word, and I take a stand on Your promises to heal me. According to Isaiah 53:5 and 1 Peter 2:24, I resist sickness and disease. I speak with my mouth and believe in my heart that I am healed of all sickness and disease.

Your Word says that Jesus bore all my sickness and diseases, and He carried my sorrows. I believe that! So I receive healing now. I believe and declare that Jesus is my Healer. Father, I give You all the praise for providing everything I need to walk in complete wholeness.

Thank you for satisfying me with a long life. Father, I am thankful that You are no respecter of persons. What you do for one, You will do for all who ask and believe

Now Father, I worship You. You are the God who heals me. I declare that Your Word will not return to You void. I praise You for Your protection and for Your goodness upon my life. I renounce any action or words that I have spoken that gave the enemy access to my life. Thank you for bringing total healing to me. Your Word says whatever I ask for and believe in the Name of Jesus, will be done for me. So I declare and believe this is done. My healing is complete, I receive it right now, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

No matter how I feel, I am steadfast in my belief. Regardless of what I see or don’t see, I am completely healed and delivered.

I thank you for healing me Lord. You are an amazing Father!
