How Satan Steals Our Authority

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

Jesus has taken back ALL authority. This means that everyone else has NO AUTHORITY unless He gives it to them.

So, if the devil has no authority, how does he still do stuff that hurts us? Jesus is not giving Him any authority. Satan obviously got some type of power or authority from somewhere because he is still stealing, killing, and destroying. Where did that ability come from?

Satan can only be empowered by those who have authority. Which means you and me.

How does he do that? Because we are not knowingly handing over what Jesus paid for us to have. Are we?

Could it be that we are unknowingly, yet willingly, relinquishing control of our thoughts and beliefs to a known liar?

For Satan to gain some measure of control, he must bring himself into agreement with one who has authority. The stronger the agreement, the more authority he has. Instead of bringing himself into agreement, he deceives believers into agreeing with him. This doesn’t allow Satan to gain authority, just a measure of influence and control to keep us from understanding and exercising our authority.

Satan would never truly bring himself into agreement with Christ. We observe Satan trying to trick Jesus during their encounter in the wilderness. He attempted to lure Jesus into some type of agreement with him. And Jesus would never give Satan authority now because He is the one who took it from him.

So, he tricks Christians into agreeing with him in the same way.

How?…

He just keeps talking until we make a verbal agreement with him. He is relentless in his attack on our thought life.

When we believe a lie to the point we speak it, we empower the enemy. We give him authority to further deceive us.

What forms that agreement?

Words are creative by nature. The first thing words create are images. Satan uses those images to manipulate our thoughts. Remember, he is looking for agreement. Once he has that verbal agreement, it becomes a covenant. This covenant gives Satan the legal right to have access to our lives.

Satan speaks relentlessly, putting images in our heads. These images are meant to draw us away from the truth and get us to question what we believe. He is looking for any word or action that would indicate agreement. When he sees or hears an indication of agreement, he begins to exert pressure to gain more control. When we believe the lie, we empower the liar. The more of his lies we believe and verbalize, the more influence he gains.

This is why we are warned repeatedly throughout scripture of the power and consequences of words.

Proverbs 18:20-21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

First, Satan lied to Eve and made her doubt what God said. She didn’t take that thought captive, she had a conversation with the devil and just let him keep talking. Entertaining Satan’s lies made her doubt that God’s Word was true. In Genesis 3:6 we see that after Eve had her conversation with the devil, she saw things differently. (images!)

Genesis 3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

The only authority he can gain now is a false authority, a counterfeit. He keeps us ignorant and deceived. This prevents us from receiving and enjoying the inheritance that Jesus paid for with His blood. His deception gives the illusion that he has authority, but he doesn’t; he just has a measure of control. As soon as we break the verbal agreement, we renounce any words spoken that gave him access. Then, we can cast him out. At that point, we take back the things he stole, and we strengthen ourselves to defend them.

Matthew 11:11-12 Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.

Jesus took the kingdom back by force, the authority that Adam relinquished to the devil. When the enemy deceives us, he isn’t stealing our authority. He is stealing our revelation of truth surrounding it. If we lose by deception what Christ took by force, we must also take it back by force. Taking it back requires effort and determination.

The Church has relinquished her understanding of spiritual authority in so many areas. The revelation of righteousness, of healing, of the Holy Spirit, and the list gets much longer. The Church is rising up all over the Earth. God is giving His people understanding in these areas. When He pours out His Spirit upon us in the last days, we will have the understanding to steward that outpouring.

We must break those verbal agreements, declare our deliverance. Then refuse to speak anything that agrees with darkness or the curse. We must learn what it means to take thoughts captive and bring them into subjection to truth. To do that, we have to learn how to put on the whole armor of God found in Ephesians 6:10-18.

And that we will cover in the following posts.

Effective Prayer for Healing

Praying the Word for Healing involves using specific Bible verses and promises as the foundation for your prayers. Believe that God’s word is true, powerful, and effective for physical, emotional, and spiritual restoration.

Before you pray, it is important to prepare yourself. Don’t make the mistake of praying out of desperation when it can be avoided. Prayer is a supernatural exchange between you and the Creator of the universe. You will find your prayers to be much more fruitful when you first find out what God has said about the matter.

1 Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

God’s word is God’s will. It is crystal clear in God’s word that it IS HIS WILL TO HEAL EVERYONE. It is not God’s will for any to remain sick. This must be settled in your heart before you pray or the enemy will have a field day with your thoughts. But you can’t take my word for it, you must see it and hear it for yourself from His written word. Why? So that your spirit can be fed, your faith can be strengthened, your confidence bolstered. The light of God’s word will begin to penetrate the darkness of doubt, sickness, and disease before you ever pray a word.

Before you pray, let the life-giving power of God’s word change your entire disposition and perfect your perspectives on this matter. Ask God to help you see what He wants you to see and hear what He wants you to hear.

  1. Read and Meditate: Study healing scriptures to strengthen your faith. Put them all together in one place, especially those scriptures that stand out to you. Print them out or save them on your device so that you always have access to look at, read, pray over, and meditate upon.
  2. Declare and Confess: Speak the verses out loud as an act of faith, asserting God’s promises and authority. Faith comes by hearing, and there is no better way for you to hear God’s word than by speaking it yourself.
  3. Personalize the Scriptures: Substitute your name or the name of the person needing healing into the verses. Make it personal, take ownership of it.
  4. Pray in Agreement: Unite with others in prayer, as recommended in James 5:14-15, for collective faith.
  5. Combine Faith with Action: Believe that healing is already secured the moment you pray, trusting God’s word over present symptoms. Begin thanking Him for the healing and start calling yourself completely healed, regardless of whether you feel or look healed. Faith talks the answer, not the problem.

Romans 4:17 (as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;

Here are some links to scriptures that promise health and healing to get you started. There are many others in the Bible that help strengthen and build your faith.

Isaiah 53:4-5; 1 Peter 2:24; Galatians 3:13; Matthew 18:18; Psalms 91 and 103; Romans 10:17; Hebrews 4:16; 2 Corinthians 4:13; Exodus 15:26; James 4:7; and John 14:13.

Before you pray, if you need to, write the prayer out on paper. Read the prayer silently. Familiarize yourself with it, taste the words, and change or adjust anything if needed. Make sure that what you are about to pray agrees with your Spirit.

First, expect power to be released when you pray. Then, open your mouth and release your faith-filled prayers and declarations. Know that life and death are in the power of the tongue. You are releasing words of life and health into your world.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

All of this preparation lets God, the devil, yourself, and your entire circle of influence know that you are serious. This is a huge act of faith. It is a demonstration of reverence for God’s word. Please don’t take it lightly.

The following prayer is a generic prayer for healing based on the scriptures above.

Pray in faith, expecting to receive your healing when you pray.

Father, I come boldly before Your throne to obtain mercy and find grace to help in my time of need. I have confidence in Your Word, and I take a stand on Your promises to heal me. According to Isaiah 53:5 and 1 Peter 2:24, I resist sickness and disease. I speak with my mouth and believe in my heart that I am healed of all sickness and disease.

Your Word says that Jesus bore all my sickness and diseases, and He carried my sorrows. I believe that! So I receive healing now. I believe and declare that Jesus is my Healer. Father, I give You all the praise for providing everything I need to walk in complete wholeness.

Thank you for satisfying me with a long life. Father, I am thankful that You are no respecter of persons. What you do for one, You will do for all who ask and believe

Now Father, I worship You. You are the God who heals me. I declare that Your Word will not return to You void. I praise You for Your protection and for Your goodness upon my life. I renounce any action or words that I have spoken that gave the enemy access to my life. Thank you for bringing total healing to me. Your Word says whatever I ask for and believe in the Name of Jesus, will be done for me. So I declare and believe this is done. My healing is complete, I receive it right now, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

No matter how I feel, I am steadfast in my belief. Regardless of what I see or don’t see, I am completely healed and delivered.

I thank you for healing me Lord. You are an amazing Father!

A Vision of End Time Events:The Restrainer

This is a vision I had in October of 2021. The vision was brief but answered an important question I had about the restrainer mentioned in 2 Thessalonians 2. Here is the passage.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers, not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming. The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, 10 and  with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, 12 in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

The two prevailing beliefs about the restrainer are that it is either the Church or Holy Spirit. This is what the Lord showed me in this brief vision.

In a time of prayer, I saw this brief vision play out in front of me, it only lasted for about 15 seconds or so, but it was very clear.

I saw an angel facing away from me staring at a peculiar-looking object. I was standing slightly behind the angel and to his left. He was wearing a robe that fell to his feet. I could only see part of the left side of his face, but I could see he was intent on this object that was suspended in the air in front of him. He did not look to the right or left. His gaze was fixed.

This object was approximately 2 feet tall, about 3 feet in length, and 4 to 6 inches thick, rectangular in shape with rounded edges. It was suspended in the air about 3 feet off the ground. It was tan colored and had some inscription or stamp on it that reminded me of a wax seal stamp or a carving. It almost looked mechanical. I did not understand the inscription on the object.

Directly behind this object was a wall of darkness with many contorted and angry faces that I knew were demons. They were acting like racehorses at the starting gate, eager to run. There was a lot of clamoring, rage, and great noise coming from this wall of darkness. The angel paid no attention to the demonic horde, only the object in front of Him.

I then perceived that the object was some kind of seal or memorial that had to do with the number of the gentiles being fulfilled. (Romans 11:25) As I watched the angel staring intently at this object, it began to disintegrate. First, it seemed like little pieces of sand began to fall from the object to the ground, much like sand from an hourglass. As this began to fall in more volume, the angel turned his back on it and walked quickly away to my right. The object then collapsed completely into dust and the demonic horde came raging forth toward me.

That was the end of the vision.

I am not going to pretend that I understand this completely, but I believe the angel to be the restrainer assigned to the purpose of fulfilling this specific task. Not the Holy Spirit, and not the Church.

I perceive that we are in the time when the first bits of sand begin to fall. The number of the gentiles is almost fulfilled. We must strengthen ourselves for what is coming.
