Never say ”I’ve Lost my Peace.”

Have you ever heard or used the phrase “I have lost my peace?” I have, and I have used it many times, but recently, the Lord corrected me in prayer about it.

I was feeling a little uncomfortable about a decision I had made, I had that yucky, scratchy, agitated feeling in my Spirit that I recognized from past experiences. I brought it to the Lord and said, Father, I think I made a bad decision here, I have lost my peace about it so what would you have me do?

The first thing He said was “Stop saying “I lost my Peace.” That uneasy feeling you are experiencing is My Peace communicating to with you and guiding you into right decisions, keeping you on the path of life.”

I was shocked because I had been speaking and praying this way for years. I was reminded of John 14.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Peace isn’t something we can lose if we are a disciple of Christ. Peace is to be our arbitrator in our decision-making process.

Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Where I missed it, and why I felt like I had lost my Peace is because I didn’t pray about it beforehand. I didn’t ask the Lord for directions or permission; I simply made the decision on my own and that was a huge mistake. I was stuck with my decision because it involved commitment to other people, so I had to follow through and keep my word. Keeping that commitment took months to fulfill and I was miserable the whole time. There was no grace, no lasting fruit, and seemingly no anointing the whole time I was faithful to my commitment. Boy, did I learn my lesson!

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

If we are not our own, then every decision we make must be cleared with the One who owns us. He paid for that right by the precious blood of Christ. I never want to be involved in or committed to anything that God has not called me to and led me to.

On another note, I have found that many decisions we bring before the Lord, He tells us to make the choice because He enjoys walking out those decisions with us in relationship. However, if we don’t ask Him beforehand, we could make a wrong choice that costs us dearly.

We have a wonderful promise in the book of Philippians that teaches us much about maintaining Peace and keeping our purity before the Lord.

Philippians 4:6-9 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

If we practice this one passage of scripture, we will avoid many unnecessary mistakes, avoid bad decisions, and increase God’s involvement and ministering angel’s involvement in our lives.

Immersing ourselves in prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving, we open our hearts and minds to the divine wisdom that surpasses all earthly understanding. As we meditate on what is true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report, we cultivate a life that is not only pleasing to God but also filled with His Spirit. We glorify God when we pray and ask before reacting and making decisions. In doing so, we will experience the fullness of His Peace, presence, and purpose in our lives.

How to Pray the Word over Yourself!

Father, I present my body as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is my reasonable service and spiritual worship. I am NOT conformed to this world, but I am transformed by the renewing of my mind to God’s word. I do not think of myself more highly than I ought to think, but I think soberly according to the measure of faith God has dealt me. Romans 12:1-3

Father, Your word will not depart from my mouth, but I will meditate on it day and night, that I may know and obey all that is written in it. As I abide in Your word, I will make my way prosperous, and I will have good success. Joshua 1:8

I gird up the loins of my mind with the living truth of Your word. I am sober and rest my hope fully upon the grace that is mine in Christ. I am Your obedient child and I am not conformed to any former lusts. I am holy in my conduct as You are holy and I live this redeemed life in the fear of the Lord. 1 Peter 1:13-21

The Spirit of truth abides in me, guiding me into all truth and showing me things to come. John 16:13

No weapon formed against me will succeed, and every tongue speaking against me in judgment shall be condemned. This is my heritage as your servant and my righteousness is from You. Isaiah 54:17

Father, give Your people perfect knowledge of what to do in every situation and fill us with all wisdom, spiritual understanding, and the knowledge of Your will for us. Colossians 1:9

Thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit. I have received power by the Holy Spirit, and I speak with other tongues and prophesy. I am a witness for Jesus to the end of the earth. Acts 19:6, Acts 1:8

Signs and wonders follow me and in Jesus’ name I cast out devils, I speak with new tongues. If I touch or consume any deadly thing it will not hurt me. I lay hands on the sick and they recover. Mark 16:17

Thank You for giving me Kingdom authority. I speak to things and situations by faith, nothing doubting, and they obey me. I believe in my heart that the things I say will be done so I have what I say. I speak intentionally, in the fear of the Lord, because my words have power. I use that power to change situations, help people, defeat the enemy, and give You glory. When I declare and decree things, they are established to me and light shines on my ways making my path clear. Mark 11:23, Job 22:28

I guard my mouth and my tongue, I guard my heart and protect the Kingdom of God within me with all diligence, keeping my soul from trouble. Proverbs 21:23, Proverbs 4:23

Father, I thank You for forgiving all our iniquities, For healing all our diseases, for redeeming our lives from destruction, and for satisfying our mouths with good things so that our youth is renewed like the eagles. Psalm 103: 2-5

Thank You for supplying all our needs according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. I seek Your Kingdom first and all things that pertain to life and godliness are added to me. Philippians 4:19, Matthew 6:33, 2 Peter 1:3

I love You Father, with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. Thank you for calling me according to Your purpose and giving me the privilege to be involved in Your great work. I know that Your hand is on me, and all things work together for my good. Mark 12:30, Romans 8:28

I refuse to worry or be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving I make my requests known to You and Your peace that surpasses all understanding keeps and guards my heart and mind through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

According to Your word, I take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. I think of things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report. If there is any virtue or praise, I think about these things. I am a doer of Your word, not just a hearer, and am grateful that Your peace is with me. 2 Corinthians 10:5, Philippians 4:8,9, James 1:22-25

Because I have been resurrected with Christ, I seek those things which are from above, where Christ is, sitting at Your right hand. I set my mind and my affections on things the eternal things above, not on the things of this earth. Colossians 3:1-2

Because of Your great work in me, I am established in righteousness. I am far from oppression, I do not fear, and terror shall not come near me. Isaiah 54:14

Father, I thank You that the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me, quickening my mortal body and giving me life. Romans 8:11

I walk in the Spirit, and I do not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. I am led by the Holy Spirit, and I am not under the law. Galatians 5:16-18

Because Your great love is living in my heart, I am patient and kind. I do not envy or boast, and I am not proud. I do not dishonor others, I am not self-seeking, I am not easily angered, and I keep no record of a suffered wrong. I do not take pleasure in evil, but I rejoice in the truth. Though I may walk through many storms and great difficulties in this life, though I may even face death, I will fear no evil, for I know You are with me, Your Word and Your Spirit, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4

Father, I am blessed because I walk in the fear of the Lord and delight greatly in Your commandments. My descendants will be mighty on the earth and be blessed. Wealth and riches are in my house and my righteousness endures forever. I am gracious and full of compassion. I guide my affairs with discretion. I will never be shaken. I am not afraid of evil tidings. My heart is steadfast, trusting in You Lord. Psalm 112:1-7

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20
